If you've been shopping with us for a while, you've probably noticed that we switched to vacuum-sealed packaging last fall. We are – and have always been – committed to providing the best meats Alberta has to offer. Our new and improved packaging prevents bacterial growth and ensures cuts stay fresher longer, without any added cost to you, our customers.
As we welcome the New Year, a new decade, and new packaging, we're also rolling out newly designed labels. If you haven't seen them yet - keep a lookout! Our team has spent many hours perfecting the look and feel of our rebranded pork, lamb, beef and chicken labels. Each label includes a livestock photo, sourced and handpicked by the Spragg family, which tells a unique story.

'Pig' the Pig
Pig is one of the many hogs we raise every year on our farm in Rosemary, Alberta. This past summer, Greg took this photo of Pig wandering along our pasture fence line, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. With over 2 acres of land to roam and play, this photo is a common sight on our farm.
Great pork starts with ethical farming practices. You can have peace of mind knowing that animal welfare is a top priority for us. We go the extra mile to ensure our hogs are raised outside in a free-range, natural environment that is good for our pigs and good for our customers.

Ahsiella the Lamb
As part of her 4H project, Ruth has been raising lamb for the past 5 years. Featured on our lamb label is Ahsiella and her lamb, raised by Ruth. Ruth is diligently finding new names for every female in her flock. The male lambs become part of the meat program, while every female lamb seems to be increasing the size of the breeding flock.
Interested in purchasing a whole market lamb? Orders can be placed in June, right after the 4H sheep project wraps up for the year.
Yogi the Steer
We love Alberta beef! While we don't raise cattle, many of our neighbours do. This steer was raised just down the road from our farm as a youth 4H project. We are proud to partner with local 4H members. Yogi is one of the many 4H cattle that are raised for meat production by young, aspiring farmers and later sold through our Meat Shop.

Farm Fresh Chicken
At Spragg's Meat Shop, we support Alberta chicken producers. Each week, Bowden Farm Fresh Chicken supplies us with fresh cuts and whole chickens. The key to great-tasting chicken is allowing them to grow at a slower pace, in a low-stress environment with plenty of space. While chickens can be raised outside during Alberta's summer months, from September to May, the flocks are moved into heated buildings to ensure they're safe and warm during the colder months.
