7 Outrageous Foods to Throw on the BBQ

It’s time to fire up the grill and turn up the heat, because it’s officially summer aka BBQ season! At backyard cookouts and warm weather get-togethers, it’s easy to turn to the classics that are reminiscent of summer’s past, such as charred hot dogs, mouth-watering hamburgers, and crispy charred steaks – mmm there’s nothing like it!

However, we don’t like to be predictable, and neither should you! We encourage you to do things a little out of the ordinary, switch it up, and try some new flavours on the grill this year. We promise that they’ll be a massive hit and pleasantly surprise your guests.

Here are seven crazy foods that you must experiment with on the grill this summer. Some might sound completely bizarre and out of this world, but trust us. They’re delicious!

Grilled Fruit

Think grilled peaches on the side of vanilla ice cream or charred pineapple with a drizzle of maple syrup. Nothing less than healthy, refreshing, and extremely tasty!

Pizza

Yes we’re talking a full pizza. If you’ve ever had a wood-burned pizza, you’ll notice the BBQ will have a similar effect. Load it up with all your favourite toppings, let it brown for a few minutes on the grill, and enjoy the charcoal-infused crust and melted cheesy goodness!

Clams or Oysters

Not many people know that shellfish are perfect for frying up on the BBQ, and they’re incredibly easy. Rinse them off and throw them on the grill, when the shells begin to open, that’s when you know they’re done. Serve with herbed garlic butter or a Verde salsa, both a perfect addition to the subtle smoky flavour.

Grilled Peppers

Use as a side course or dip in a fresh dill infused tzatziki sauce. You can also pair them with a protein and cheese and make them into skewers – the choice is entirely up to you!

Brie

Obviously, we had to include cheese! Brie might be to-die-for when baked, but not until you’ve had it grilled. Place your Brie wheel on the grill, not directly onto of the heat source and close the lid for 2 minutes, flip and repeat on the other side. To ensure it’s done, cut a tiny hole in the top and watch as the gooey cheese spills out. Serve with any regular charcuterie options, along with your grilled fruit, and homemade garlic bread.

French Toast

Who says you can’t fire up the BBQ for breakfast? Grill each slice up on the BBQ and enjoy with male syrup, whipped cream, and fresh berries. The works!
