Ingredients:

*Recipe doubled to accommodate the size of turkeys available at Spragg’s Meat Shop

  • 1x 15 lb whole turkey (from Spragg’s Meat Shop!)

  • 1 apple, halved

  • 1 lemon

  • 1 onion

  • 2 celery stalks, halved

  • 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary (or 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary if required)

  • 2 sprigs of fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon of dried thyme if required)

  • Salt, to taste

  • 1 cup of salted butter

  • 1 cup of maple syrup

  • 2 cups of water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line your large shallow roasting pan with aluminum foil (this will make the clean up so much easier).

  2. Rinse your fresh or thoroughly thawed turkey with cold water and pat dry with paper towel.

  3. Next, get to stuffin’! Stuff the turkey cavity with apple, lemon, onion, celery, rosemary, and thyme and sprinkle with salt. Place the stuffed turkey in your roasting pan.

  4. In a small saucepan, melt your butter and maple syrup over low heat. Pour this maple butter glaze over your stuffed turkey to coat and add 2 cups of water to the bottom of the pan.

  5. Place the turkey in the oven and roast for 3 ½ – 4 hours, or until your meat thermometer registers a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees F. Don’t forget to baste the turkey with the pan juices every 30 minutes to keep it from drying out.

  6. If you notice that your turkey is browning too quickly in the oven, just tent lightly with aluminum foil.

  7. Remove your turkey from the oven and place on a large cutting board. Allow it to rest for about 15-20 minutes. Resting is very important to keep the meat juicy!

  8. Carve, serve, and enjoy!

TIP: Be sure to plan ahead with your turkey! If you purchase your turkey frozen, it will need several days to thaw in the refrigerator or cold storage before cooking.
